Im back,

I have been offline for the past few months. I've still been writing the random blog entries. So if you want to catch up. Here they are in one post.

Very Anxious

On Monday I am finally getting the internet hooked up in my new apartment. Im counting down the minutes until its turned on.. I just hope that everything works fine with it. I have had problems with charter in the past and I am really hoping that they don’t carry over.

Im also getting TV service set up. I haven’t had TV service in about three years. I’m not much of a TV watcher. There are not a lot of programs that are interesting to me. For the most part TV is all garbage. I hate news because its always shit you don’t care to hear about, or biased bullshit that’s being fed down our throats. Most other shows are reality shows which I hate. Also I don’t really want to get caught up in a weekly show (i.e. Lost). However, I did watch the first two Heroes show’s and its pretty interesting. I may watch that one.

What I am really looking forward to watching is going to be the discovery HD channel. I think that’s going to be sick to see.

Oh, and just so everyone knows, it is no longer politically correct to say “Hate Crime”. It’s a “Biased Crime”… haha, people suck.

My new years resolution!

I am going to set some goals and challenges for myself for the New Year. I will be putting most, if not all of my tax returns online. I expect it to be 1500 and up. As for my current PT database I am losing. I am stuck 210.35. I have not re-deposited since my “initial” Ultimate Bet deposit. This money came from rake back and tournaments that I have cashed in, and is for 3,134 hands that I have in my database. So here are my current goals and plans for the New Year.

1. Get my roll started again. – Obviously this is necessary to any one trying to play this game.
2. Out of the red – I am in the red in most of my current levels. So to correct that I have set the rule that I will not move up in a level unless I have at least 10k hands at the previous level for +7ptbb/100.
3. Movin’ Up - I want to move up aggressively but smartly. I will always have 20 buy ins for my current level, and will take shots when I have 3 “extra” buy ins for the next level. So basically whenever I am feeling confident enough to beat the next level, and have 3 buy ins that I am willing to lose, I will take a shot.
4. The Grind – I am in a relationship at the moment so getting in as many hands as I would like will be kind of hard. I will still set time aside to play. I will try to put in at least 8 hours a week, and 8500 hands.
5. Perfect Practice makes Perfect - I will review and hand that I was outplayed in. I will be making a lot of posts on 2+2 for hands, and posting hands that I am lost in. I have made some favorites in PT that will make this easier to do. I wasn’t doing it before because it could be a pain in the ass to try to find hands.

I know that they seem pretty rudimentary but I need to make sure that I have a solid base and habits to build on.

Until Next Time

Oh Pokah…

How I love thee….

Gosh that’s gay.

Anyways, that ten dollars that was donated to my roll on UB has been increased slightly. I played some S&G’s with my girlfriend. I think she’s played five tournaments. She cashed in two of them. This is very exciting considering she didn’t know the rules of the game at first. She ended up being up a total of 3 dollars over the tournaments. GG!

Also my increase slightly comment was a little bit of an understatement. I’ve increased it to 98.90. This is cool because I am going to be getting the internet set up on Monday and I will be able to play a little. Hopefully start getting some of my goals going and make some money. I’ll be starting at the bottom, well 10nl will be the start. That’s pretty much the bottom.

10$ from UB Baby!

I received an email from UB saying that missed me and wanted to give me ten bucks. Nice! I played some .25-.50 LHE from my phone. I won 5.55 in like thirty hands. Damn I’m good! ;)

I have been thinking of teaching my girlfriend how to play poker. She taught me how to play Gin Rummy a few weeks ago, and I have been beating the crap out of her at it. So to return the favor I should teach her my game. She’s a pretty bright girl so I think she will be able to catch on pretty quick. I will probably go to a local coffee shop with her tomorrow and we can play some S&G’s and Ill show her how they work. Maybe she will win me a bankroll…

Oh Yeah,

As for my previous challenge. I got sick of playing sit and goes for a dollar, or a dollar fifty. Its really boring to play a sit and go for 3 hours to take a cash of $5.00. I got bored and decided to flip my bankroll. YAY 10nl ALL IN!!!

Im trying to take a loan out against the van to get some debts paid off.

GOD DAMN VAN!

I am getting sick of that van. It has become such a huge burden on me. That is all, I want someone to take that van and drive it off a giant fucking cliff! (of course after paying me for it)

Stupid ass thing...

GETTING STOOD UP

So I took yesterday off so that I could meet with that guy coming from California to buy the van. He never showed, nor was I able to get a hold of him. I guess he does not have his own cell phone, he uses his cousins. Its pretty frustrating to be told that someone is going to come and do something and not to do it, or even let me know. Not only did I spend a good chunk of money getting the van working (replacing the battery), I took the day off work. I am going to call him this evening and see if he is still interested in it, if not I will put it back on craigslist. I really hope it sells soon.

I have read a little of PNL (Professional No-Limit Hold 'em) and I must say the book is pretty good. I really like the examples that are given and the way the book is written keeps it interesting. Also, I really like the ideas that they go over when playing hands and checking behind on turns when you have one pair hands to control pot size/give players chances to bluff on river. I realized after going through my hands that my hands became transparent. I would cbet the flop and usually give up on the turn if I missed. When I was hitting my hand I would cbet the flop, bet the turn for value, and fire the river.

I really think that this was a huge leak for me because players are slow playing hands against me, and Im paying them off, also I'm not allowing players to bluff with a lot of second best hands (second pair or worse). At these stakes players do not think that you would check the turn with a good one pair hand. They assume that you are betting all streets if you hit to protect your hand. If you ever notice that if you take the cbet flop, check turn, bet river. You get called by a much larger range of hands. The player thinks your bluffing the river, and his calling range becomes very wide.

I'm of course not going to be playing every top pair hand like this. Its going to depend a lot on the board texture, player (calling station, TAG etc) and chip stacks. Once I get online and get some good HH I think I am going to write up a mini strategy article about turn play against different opponents with strong, but vulnerable hands (i.e. top pair/top kicker). Hopefully I can write my first of many quality strat article.

I also have sit n' go strategy. I'm a little ways into it (I left PNL at a friends) and must say its not as good. But I'm giving it a chance.

THE VAN MIGHT BE SOLD

recieved a call last yesterday while I was at work from an out of state number. I called the number back and spoke with a Mexican fellow with a heavy accent, and very very limited english. I almost had to get one of my friends to come translate the call. The conversation when A little like this:

Me: Hi, I just received a call from this number
Him: heyo, uhhhh, yes?
Me: I was just called from this number, and I was returning the call. Did you need anything?
Him: uhhhh, Heyo, uhh you sell?
Me: Yes, Im selling a van.
Him: et uhhh, et spoun? et spund otiy?
Me: ???? What was that?
Him: Eat run well?
Me: It runs great.
Him: I be up friday 2 pm. I come from california.
Me: Okay, Im in coos bay, oregon.

Im extremely excited to get this van sold. It is going to (hopefully) put me on track with poker, and also get me out of debt. My plan, since I am selling it for less then I was originally trying to, is to put 1000 online. I am going to first get out of the red in all different levels. I am stuck in all cash games levels that I normally play in my new database. My 80 rakeback from a month ago translated into 280 in loses at the cash table. Its not alot that I am stuck really. Just 2 buy ins at 10nl, 4-5 buy ins at 25nl and 2.5 buyins at 50nl. I dont have pt becuase Im at work so this is all estimated.

One of my biggest leaks right now is firing cbets into players that do not fold the flop, and not value betting them as strong as I should be with more medicore top pair hands that I tend to play more passively on the turn. My plan for this is to start cbetting less and doing it more based on flop texture.

Im going to be reading Professional No Limit Hold 'em over the next few days. I will write up a little review once Im done incase anyone wants to know what its like for the lower stake grinders. thats it for now.

Still winning!

I played a total of six sit and goes. I placed pretty deep in all of them. Cashed in the last two that I played for a thrid place 90 man $1.25 and tenth in the 180 $2.25. I feel like I played really well in all the tournaments today. Im excited about making a lot of correct decisions. I cant wait to get my hands on PT to review them. But I am off to work for the rest of the night.

Today

Today I took the day of work and played about 7 different sit and goes. I moved to the $2.00 + 0.25 sit and goes and tried out most of the different ones. I ended up winning one, taking second in two, and 15th in two others. For a total profit on the day of $8.20. Ha, I can almost buy lunch now!

Regardless of the fact that the win is next to no money, I am playing and winning. I have a total of 26 sit and goes logged (as per sharkscope.com) and have a ROI of 126%. I have been experimenting with betting strange amounts early in the tournaments and I think my weird raising numbers are confusing people. They take more time when I bet 351 into a 425 pot, then if I were to bet 350 or 375. I think the strange number makes people stop and think.

There are two hands that I think I misplayed really badly today. The other I posted on 2+2 in the small stakes MTT strategy forum. (search for "Shove Turn?" posted by itWASaDREAM

THIS ONE

This player has not been raising a lot of hands, but limping a ton. When he led the flop he took his time. I thought about it and felt that he is likely having air here a lot, but then I talked my self out of shoving because he would call with any draw, and my hand was super vulnerable because of the board. I decided to pick a better spot. I was in 11th place with 15 left.

I should have went with my read and shoved the flop. I could have called, and shoved any non straight turn. I was considering that, but I didnt want to call off 3bb to just pitch the hand because of any face card or straight card. Im sure he would have folded for 11.5bb more. Really his range is wide, but him leading the flop is suspicious. I dont think he leads with any big hands here (sets, straights, etc...). That narrowed his range imensely to drawing hands and over cards. I chickened out and folded only to bust my AKs to his 88 two hands later.

S&GS

Are long and kind of boring. Im tired and its hard to focus. But on the plus side I played on this morning (a 9man) and took second, and I am playing one right now and I am 7th with 25 people left.

EDIT:

Took second in the 90 man MTT for a $13.95 payday. I may play one more 90 man $1.25 tournament this evening. But right now I am going to take a break, watch some cartoons and maybe nap.

A CHALLENGE

Something that I have been trying to think of to do is some sort of challenge to re-inspire me to play and learn and progess as I did when I first started till now. I Feel that I may have "hit a wall" with my learning curve. I am going to try over the next month or two (until I sell my van) to build my bankroll from next to nothing.

My plan for this is to play $1.25 9 player sit and gos. Until I have 15 buy ins for the next level of sit and go's. I will drop down if I ever get below 15 buy ins for the previous levels, this is so I always have a sufficient bankroll for the limits. I will hold off on cash games untill I have 15 buy ins for 10nl. And will stop playing cash anytime I drop five buy ins, and stop if I lost two buy ins in a single session.

Well, Im going to bed or work, I haven't decided.

My current bankroll for the challenge:
$17.02
Total S&G's Played:
0

Wish me luck!

LONG TIME NO NOTE

So tonight I played the last show I am ever going to play with Beyond These Walls. Its a weird feeling to not be in a band right now. I think I am more apathetic then I expected. I hope I get to continue to play music with my Anthony and Greg. I am going to start joining them when writing songs, and that may get my recent mood downswing back up.

Poker:

I had $1.57 in my account as of a about two weeks ago. I was able to turn that into $12.00 by luck boxing a sit and go, and then I ended up playing all that in three different sit and goes. I was playing with all my roll and ended up getting a call from my ex roomates saying my stuff had to be out of my house in two hours otherwise it was going to the dump. What a bunch of douche bags! I am at my friends house and was bored so I thought I would log into FTP to watch some big games and to my suprise I had 26 dollars in my account! So I am two tabling 10nl right now while I wait to go to work (probably not a good idea because I havent slept in 24 hours) but its pretty cool.

MEH

So I had my rake back payment this month. $127 was deposited into my account on august 11th. Since then I lost it. I really think that I need to go back through the hands and examine my game. I feel like I ran poorly and also probably played sub optimally. I am going to take a break from cards.

Its weird that I am so bummed about losing. I think its because I have been envisioning myself becoming a competent player and hopefully make a living or at least add a healthy chunk of income to my monthly earn while I try to make it through college (which I have not started yet due to finances). Although I completely understand that I did not have an adequate roll for playing any game, I for some reason thought it would go better.

I think I am going to go through with my prior plan of the large deposit and playing 50nl, but I may be over my head at that game. In all truth, that would be very disappointing. I will go over my hands and take a look at what is happening and why I seem to lose every time I take a shot.

This is my PT screen shot for all the games that I played. The colors are off because I have a cool theme on my computer now and it makes everything a soft and easy on the eyes gray color. This does not include a Sit and Go that I played and placed second in for a win of 69.75, the other small tournaments that I played in and won.

Here is my graph. As you can see from the get go I was never in the green in my cash games.

I also dropped some skrill in the Omaha games. I really think I have an edge in those games and was doing well until a few coolers happened. That is to be expected though, I know that Omaha is a swingy game and the nuts with the nut redraw isn't always going to hold up. But here is my Omaha pictures.

And the graph

I will do some review and post again soon.

TAKING A SHOT AND STILL BUST

First off, I'm working again and I hate it. Fuck jobs, they are so stupid. Working for minimum wage is even worse, and its one of the best jobs in my area.

No poker as I am still technically busto. I will be getting my rake back soon (a whole $127.00) and I plan on playing 2 tables of 50nl with it. I know this is not good bankroll management, but I am not looking at my rack back as the rejuvenation to my bankroll, just two buy in for my current limit. Although it would be nice to have one of the Green Plastic stories of a tiny original deposit ran into a huge bankroll.

Although I have not played 50nl enough to consider it "my current limit" I strongly believe that I will be able to beat the game for a decent winrate, and it would be nice to run hot as the devils balls and run that deposit up and not have to redeposit, but I am not counting on it. We all know how the swings of poker are, and as long as I get my money in with an edge, I will consider it a "win".

Something that I am going to be focusing on while playing 2 tables is going to be reading hands. I chat a lot with a friend about hands online, and I fell I have a good grip on ranges. I want to make sure that I am applying this knowledge on the go so that I can make more correct decisions when I am faced with a tough spot. I think when I am playing 10nl and 25nl I play more on autopilot and don't consider ranges to much unless I am faced with a tough spot. However that needs to change if I want to move up.

I read some post on 2p2 today that seemed to really inspire my mindset about the game. I really suggest reading them, they are great post and may help your mindset as well.

MY PLANS

Its 4:00 in the morning and I’m sitting up having a hard time getting to sleep. I have been doodling in a notepad I purchased today writing about my poker goals. My last post did not detail my current situation very well.
My bankroll is now zero. I don’t want to say that I am busto, because I cashed out all but 30 dollars. I guess however, by definition I am. I needed to be able to pay some bills and have food money till I start working again so I decided that I did not need the money online as much as I need to be able to use it. The last $30 that I had in my account I did some flipaments with. It was fun. I just pulled up a table and started shoving every hand, and called every all in.

I wasn’t worried about the $30, and just wanted to be entertained. It worked for about 30 minutes, and I’m sure I made some 10nl players pretty happy. Except one hand where I shoved 83 of clubs into pocket aces and I flopped a flush. That had made me laugh.

The internet bill was paid, I decided that I would be the mature member of my household and pay the bill, although I am moving the modem into my room, and not allowing anyone else access (maybe its not that mature…). I have someone from the internet company coming in tomorrow to hook up the coaxial cables in my room. So I will post this then.

What I ‘m wanting to do is once I sell the van, I am going to deposit at least 2k. I am selling the van for 4k, but will use some of the money to pay off some bills, and maybe upgrade my computer. I will be playing 50nl until I am beating the game for at least 6ptbb/100 over 100k hand sample. Then I will move up to 100nl once I am comfortable with the game. I will also be using a conservative forty buy in rule for each level. The reason is that I feel that I am going to be learning the limits as I go and would like to be able to withstand the variance and learning curve.

I will also want to be playing at least 50k hands a month. So if my math is correct I will be making 3k a month plus about $600+ in rake back. I plan on cutting my job to part time once I have the funds online. I will cash out half of all my winnings at the end of the month, so if everything goes according to plan, I will be at 100nl two months after my initial deposit.

First though, I need to get a lot of my bills paid off before I do this. So I will be working on selling my van, and doing a ton of overtime, to get myself out of debt. I also want to have about 3 months worth of living expenses set aside incase my little adventure fails. So it is about 3k before that happens. My time line is to have this set up for about mid November. So that gives me three months of work, saving, and playing.

NO POKER

So I cashed out almost all of my bankroll and have not been playing as of late. I've done this because my roommate has not paid the cable internet bill to spite me.

Him and I used to be friends until he got a girlfriend about a month ago and decided that he was too "mature" to associate with me. This has led to him being absolutely childish about some thing, and said that because I do not contribute to the house he is not turning the internet back on. I guess its fine by me really, just means that I have an excuse not to pay rent this month, as the internet is how I was earning money (although very little so far this month).

So smite me all mighty smiter!!! haha, Bruce Allmighty is a great movie.

I do have some plans though. I will be selling the van that I purchased for the band. I am asking 4k for it, and hopefully will sell it soon. I am going to use at least 2k, if not the entire amount to start a bankroll. Hopefully I can be playing 50nl with 40 buy ins in a month or two.

Today Was Swingy

Today I put in about 2893 hands. I ended up down almost 3 buy ins in 10nl (26.55) and down a little more then 1 buy in at 25nl (32.30) for a total net of -59.15. I'm fine with todays losses, I had a couple of sick beats. I know I said I wasn't going to post hand history's but its fun to see me lose as a 98% favorite. It happens (1-50 times that is.

38 outs, and I miss...

I think I called in a lot of places where I shouldn't have. Tomorrow I am going to focus on playing well. I'm going to 4 table 25nl and hopefully be able to make some of the lay downs I know I should have. Its the difference between being up $125 and being down $35. I think I may have been getting tired or I stopped really focusing because all of the bad calls where happening at the very end of the session.

I cant fold a pair

At these limits he will rarely show up with AK here or JJ. I should have just folded preflop, I knew I was getting into trouble if I called and the flop comes ten high. I have to start being able to fold QQ more. Its a big leak of mine.

This is a call that I'm proud of. He was three betting me a lot when I raised from the small blind. And I think that if he had a flush on the flop he would not have raised me and waited for the turn to get the money in. I decided that he was FOS so I called.

feels good!

Todays results:

Hands: 2893 (-6.87ptbb/100)
Total: -59.15 + 22 in rake back= $-37.18

LONG TIME NO POST...

I haven't updated in a while. My life is changing pretty drastically here pretty soon. The band that I have been in for the last 3 years is going to be breaking up on September 1st. I have been playing music with these guys for a long time and we have developed some of the strongest friendships I could imagine and its going to be weird not seeing them and making loud noise 3 times a week anymore.

Our guitar player is going to be moving to Nashville to be with his girlfriend and none of the other members are really in a position to move across the country. Its pretty depressing, kind of the feeling you get after a break up with a cool girl. Hopefully the rest of the band will be able to continue making music, but I'm not counting on it.

Poker has been pretty frustrating as of late. I was on a ten buy in downswing and couldn't figure out why I was donking it up. I realized that I had a case of FPS and that is not a profitable "disease" to have at these limits. For those of you who are not familiar with the term FPS, it means Fancy Play Syndrome. These people do not fold, and trying to "outplay them" by assuming that they are thinking and reacting to your constant aggression as a sign of strength is FPS. You are rarely able to make someone lay down top pair, or second pair. Which over the long run can be profitable if your playing an ABC type poker game, and getting as much value as possible out of the hands that you do hit.

This is my graph from the beginning of this month

As you can see it takes a nice little dip on the middle. Hopefully I have cured my FPS and can continue it on a steady upward movement. The graph says that I am down only .38 cents, but my Poker Tracker says that I am still down $5.01. So I will go by PT because it seems to be more accurate. I am half way through my month of "free time" and overall I am still profitable with my rake back that has been earned which is about $130 as of today (plus the 108 that I earned from last month).

I haven't been holding up to the 3k hands a day either. I think I am averaging just over 1k a day. I put in 2200 today and 1900 yesterday. Its just a lot of cards to play and I am trying to hang out with friends when I can. So I might say that I want to play 2k hands from now on, it seems more attainable.

Another thing I have been failing to do is track my results using excel spreadsheet like I have been before. So I do not know exactly where my bankroll is. I am going to start doing that again.

But as of right now I have 195 on Ultimate bet and 230 on Full Tilt. I am cashing out my UB money and am going to start a new screen name on Full Tilt but in order to do it I have to use my bank account to deposit the funds. They are not letting me use my epassporte account on the other account. So as of Sunday night I am going to start transferring everything over to epassporte so I can go put the money in my bank, and transfer it over.

I'm doing this because at the end of the month I am going to need to cash out my bankroll to pay rent and all that jazz so if I make a new account I can get the bonuses. Hopefully tomorrow I can make 15 buy ins so I can have a full $600 to deposit and clear the whole bonus. But thats wishful thinking, I'd have to be on the heater of a life time.

So as of today:

Effective br: 230
today: +$33.66 (+14 in rake back)= 47.66
Hands 2270 7.41ptbb/100

Saturday, July 7, 2007

I did not update yesterday because I was super frustrated with how the evening went. I had some horrendous beats for some big pots (500bb), So I just didn't post my results. Im going to put my graph from yesterday here. Its like an amazing roller coaster.

Today went a lot better. I beat the game for what I think I should be winning at. Ended up playing 2390 hands and winning 53.20 (11.15bb/100). It feels good to be back in the green, and able to play some hands.

My goal of playing 3k hands a day has not been going very well. I have been really busy with the band, but after this week I think things are going to slow down. I should be able to reach my goal of 3k hands.

Todays results:
BR: 214.35
Today: +53.20 (+19.21 RB)= 72.49
Hands: 2390

NO POKER

My band had a show last night, and today is the holiday so I will not be able to play.

Maybe some tonight after the celebration, but no guarantee's. I'll going to be putting in some hands tomorrow for sure.

SWINGY MCSWINGERSON

So today being my first day as a "pro micro stakes" poker player, was swingy as I think it could possible by. I ended up with a winning day, but just barely. I'm not exaggerating when I say as I was winning a good sized put on one table, I was losing a huge pot from a three outer on another. It was kind of frustrating to be all over the place with my results. You can only get people in with three outs so many times before they are broke right??

I don't think I am going to be posting many hands, because quite frankly micro stakes hands are not interesting. Its a one level, basic thing in 10nl, but I will bitch about all the suck outs.

Results for Day 1

Number of Hands: 3458
Total poker winnings: 3.5 (0.51bb/100)
bonuses cleared: 20.00
Rake back earned: 18.29 (approximately)

Todays totals: 23.50 (41.79 w/rake back)

ANOTHER SET BACK

So its is looking like the tour my band has been preparing for has tentatively been canceled. The company that is putting on the tour says they will not be able to afford to pay the bands the guarantee's that where promised originally, and without that, we can not afford to go. Its super disappointing and leaves us with a lot of loose ends so to speak.

The basic plan was to do this tour, get our demo out to a couple of people and then figure out what our plans for the rest of our musical career are going to be. The plan was to finish this summer and if nothing good came of it, we were going to call it quits. But I guess all I can do now is wait and see what comes of these next two months.

My poker plans though have also been switched around. I have taken a leave of absence from my job and have no real income. I am going to try to play online to make money for the next month to see how that works. I have set up some rules that I will be going by.

1) I will play at least 3k hands a day (generate rake back on top of winnings)
2) I will not lose more then 3 buy ins in any given sessions, and no more then 5 a day. (I need to limit my losses of course, I have no means of reloading and if I have loosed five buy ins, then I'm playing poorly)
3) I will not take shots at the next level until I have at least 20 buy ins for (playing outside of my roll is not a good idea)
4) I will not play tired, or distracted.

So thats it for right now. I am going to try to update this daily so I have a log of what I am doing. My current bankroll is a measly 148. I have saved up for myself for food and other needs 371 dollars. I may return the giant computer monitor I just purchased but I have until Friday to determine if I am going to need to or not.

I am going to write another update tonight after I get done playing. Hopefully with some good news.

15.5bb/100

So I have been beating the game pretty bad lateley. Im running at 15.57bb/100 over the last 6k hands. I feel that a lot of it is because of cardrunners.com and 2+2 forums. I spend a lot of time reviewing hands, reading posts, and just trying to educate myself more on the game. It's been paying off pretty nicely. I also feel that my discussioins with an online friend of mine (emf) has really helped me analyze my own game, while helping him review his.

Today I played for about 2.5 hours and ended up 12 dollars (im still grinding 10nl). I quit because on three consecutive hands I had some bad beats which resulted in more then a 40 in potentail winnings. It happens but I usually quit playing for a little while when this happens. I dont want to start tilting or trying to outplay people to get the win back. I found two of the hands, but cant seem to find the other. But I flopped top two pair, and got it in against second pair for about 180bb in both mine and my opponets stack, and he rivered his ace for the better two pair.

TOUR GETS PUSHED BACK

So I was supposed to leave on the 24th of this month until the 24th of July with my band for a tour but that was pushed back. A christian band that we were going to be touring dropped off and so some of the venues no longer want to host the show because there is not a "christian band" playing. Kind of sucks, but gives me some time to sit at home for a few weeks and do nothing other then hang out with friends and this new lady friend of mine ;).

Poker has been going great lately. After having a 8 buy in downswin at 25nl then cashing out all but 50 of my br to help with tour expenses I dropped to 10nl and have built my br back to $201 in two days. I reveiwed my hands and I may be running hot, but I honestly seem to be playing well. My big hands have been holding up, and I have learned how to extract value out of my hands from the average micro stake players. I have not been getting doubled up left and right, just consitently winning $1-2 pots and building stacks. Its fun and hopefully I will continue to win as much as I am now, and by tour I will have some more money to bring to purchase a tv for the van with.

Cashing out and building it back

So my band is leaving for tour next week and I have decided that I would cash out my bankroll for extra funds while on tour. I left 50 online so that I could keep myself entertained over the next week that I am not working and getting ready for the summer.
But today went well, I am going to be playing 10nl and 1 10 PLO table. I ended up $95 today, which is always fun. I feel like I played really well and hit. Also had some of my bigger hands get paid off by ridiculous things. Oh, small stakes is so fun.

Anyways, I'm off to judo for the night. The final is tonight so wish me luck. Hopefully Ill do good in the vocabulary.

Still Swinging...

So today I put in a little two hour session and ended up down another $60. I've had a few pretty bad beats (kk vs 97s all in preflop, one set over set for stacks). I've been playing four tables so I think Im going to just table select really well and play only 2 untill I figure out why Im not playing consistently anymore. I think Im suffering from FPS (fancy play syndrome) and need to get back to the roots and just play tight, solid abc poker. I'll put in another update tonight, Im going to the DMV to get an ID and then I'll be back to put in some hands. Cross your fingers.

MY BIGGEST LOST TO DATE

So tonight I ended up dropping 108. I took a shot at 50nl and lost $64.00 in 54 hands. Triend to run a bluff on a guy who I thought could fold a pair (guess I gave him too much respect) and had JJ vs AA. O'well, I'll take another shot at 50nl when I have some "disposable funds". Im actually considering just waiting untill I am properly rolled for 50nl before I take my next shot.

About me:

So I decided I was going to type up a little "about me". I havent updated in a while because I've been busy. Its crunchtime. My band is about to go on tour so I've been working a lot of overtime so that I can afford the tour.

My Poker story:

Ive been playing poker for about a year now. I was taught the basics by a good freind of mine. Then I read every post on 2+2 and Cardrunners, read ever book that there is too offer. I've become obsessed with learning more about this game, and learning about more things that are going to help me improve my game.

The friend that taught me to play is named Tim. He used to make a living playing in the casino and the bars around here, winning a few hundred dollars a night untill they realized he was 17... Hes a very smart kid and has a huge potential to be an amazing but recently has lacked an motivation to get on pursueing the game. I started playing online when I first was shown how to play. I made a couple of small deposits and blew them very quickly. My recent run is much different.

I am currently living a Green Plastic story of sorts. This last deposit was a huge $25 that I put on ultimate bet. After 24k hands I had turned that $25 deposit into a roll of $245. Im now playing on FTP and I my roll is now at 608.15. Im beating the game for 9.6BB/100 over 16k hands. Its exciting to see so much improvement in my thought process and overall game in the last three months I've been playing online. I hope I can continue to play smart and keep moving up.

My goals are to have a roll big enought to play 5-10 10-20 online, and play for a living. That would be my dream!!

But Im off to see a movie with some friends.

Another great night.

So tonight went pretty well. I ended up a little more then 3 buy ins (im currently playing 25nl). I started the night off pretty poorly getting when someone hit a three outer. Oh, well it happens. cant ask for much more then getting your opponent in when your a 94% favorite.

Tonight I dont feel like I ran much better then normal, I was making calls that I dont think I would normally make but Im putting my reads to the test. I think I made a good call here when all I could beat was a bluff. It was a tough call to make when there where a lot of hands that he could have in the blinds and be calling my raise with (Ah7h, T8s etc). The way he played it though I put him on a flush draw on the turn. The turn bet really looked like he was trying to peel off a cheap card to try to hit, I really wanted to raise the turn, but I felt that he could easily raise me off my hand and I gave him enough respect to be able to make this play. Also, I wanted to play a small pot with this hand and call and decided I would re-evaluate the river. The river cards sucked almost as much as a diamond. Not only did it comeplete a four card striaght, but the second flush. His bet looked like he was trying to fold out a ten. I know that he knows I only call the turn with top pair, and felt like he could put me off it by betting enough (I almost starting to over think the hand and think that he knew i had a ten, and that I know that he knows my hands, and therefore if he bets trying to represent a missed flush draw, I would call with a weak hand like TP/NK, and he would gain more value out of the hand by stepping up his thinking. But then i realized im playing 25nl and I needed to stop thinking so much). If he would have hit I think he would have bet one of two amounts, either insta potted the river (as I've seen him do) or about 3.0-4.00 trying to get a call out of the ten that I had when I flipped my hand face up on the turn. I couldnt put him on the second flush draw unless he had a hand like Jh10h or something of that nature but Im sure he would have checkraised the flop with top pair. This hand was fun, I love this game!!!

Running Hot

Okay, So I'm restarting my blog in order to hopefully make it a little more entertaining then the last attempt. Also, I might keep this one updated...

A few things I wanted to say:

First, Im running as hot as the devils balls on FTP lately. It must be the poker gods reimbursing me for the terrible time I had last time (or in poker terms: getting back to the postive side of varience). Im winning most of the hand that I'm getting it in when Im a big favorite, and thats always fun. Im being so much more patient then I was before. I was trying to out think people who are not thinking (an example that works http://www.pokerhand.org/?1134970) or the countless times that I was trying to represent a big hand by playing like I was on a flush draw, the flush gets there, Im 80% sure they have TP/NK and should be able to take the pot away, but cant. This is okay with me, just I did not have the discipline to wait till I had TP/NK beat and stack them. Im learning it though.

PLO
Ive been working on my non-existent PLO game. Im playing 2 tables of 25nl and one 10nl table of PLO. I feel like I was doing well today and enjoying the game a lot. I ran into one sick cooler as the last hand I played for the night. I should have prevented this by just folding my sb, but i thought, "hey, Im getting like 40million to one with all these limpers, If I hit my hand Im sure someones gonna pay me off."

I lose to JJxx and 66xx. And shit, he had one.

Wild Card Poker.
I was on the bodog site a few weeks ago and noticed they were casting for a show called Wild Card Poker. I thought it would be fun to fill out the form and see what happens. Well, I recieved an email back from them asking for a 5 minute tap so that they can review it. I was pretty excited about the whole thought of it but I responded and asked for a deadline, and they said the end of the first week in june. Well, I dont have time to put together a five minute video, nor do I have the camera to do it with. Its kind of dissapointing to not be able to do it, but I will try if they do it next year and if not then o'well.

If you dont keep track of your BR swings beyond just poker tracker I really suggest you start. This is a great tool and is always good to look at your swings. go here to get this http://www.kingscascade.com/PokerSessionLog.html
